King Charles and Queen Camilla are gearing up for a trip to the United States to celebrate 250 years of independence. And obviously everyone's wondering if Charles will make time to see his semi-estranged son, Prince Harry, while he's in the country. The answer? Apparently...not so much.
Despite the fact that he rarely sees Prince Harry or Meghan Markle (and sees his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, even less), royal expert Robert Jobson confirms that King Charles almost definitely won't make a trip to reunite with them in California.
As Robert put it in Hello Magazine, "There is the question of whether the King will visit his younger son the Duke of Sussex and grandchildren Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, in California. But there will be no detour."
The royal expert also confirmed that Harry likely won't head to Washington DC to see his dad, since it would pull focus away from the visit. "While some close to the palace quietly suggest the Sussexes could travel east for a discreet meeting in Washington," he said, "their presence would dominate headlines, eclipsing the state visit, so for that reason, it remains improbable."
Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton might make the trip to celebrate July 4th with King Charles and Queen Camilla, but "sources stress it is not impossible but unlikely, since this would be a state visit with the King as the principal actor."
